Complete Guide to Hearing Aid Funding

 

1. Sources of Support

  • NFZ (National Health Fund) – basic reimbursement for patients with hearing loss

  • PFRON – “Active Citizen” program – through PCPR/MOPS

  • Local programs by PCPR/MOPS in Małopolska — financial support dependent on the district

2. NFZ Reimbursement – Conditions and Amounts

  • Adults (> 26 years): air conduction aid – 1,050 zł each, up to 2,100 zł for both; 5-year waiting period, ear molds – 50 zł each (once every 5 years)

  • Children and youth (≤ 26 years): 3,000 zł per aid, 3-year waiting period; up to 6,000 zł for both; molds – 60 zł each (once every 3 years)

  • Bone conduction aids: 2,100 zł each for adults, 3,000 zł for children (once every 5 or 3 years respectively)

  • Privileged persons (veterans, repressed): air conduction – 1,500 zł each; bone conduction – 3,000 zł each; mold – 50 zł each (for both sides)

3. PCPR/MOPS – Local Support in Małopolska

  • Example from Kraków (MOPS): up to 800 zł per aid (or 1,600 zł for two)

  • In other districts, amounts vary — it's worth checking current limits at your local PCPR/MOPS

4. Documents Required to Apply for Funding

  • For NFZ: recommendation from an ENT doctor, results of audiometric testing

  • For PFRON/PCPR: disability certificate, income documentation (if required), purchase invoice or pro forma invoice

  • For privileged persons: appropriate veteran or repressed ID

7. Additional Benefits

  • Rehabilitation Tax Relief in PIT: the possibility of deducting expenses for a hearing aid (after partial reimbursement from NFZ/PFRON) as well as accessories, cleaning and maintenance supplies, batteries, according to the interpretation from February 2025

 

How to Access Funding in Practice?

  • Make an appointment for a hearing test at GAMA Hearing Prosthetics – you will receive the audiometric results.

  • In our office, we will also explain how much reimbursement you can obtain and what documents are needed.

  • Consult with an ENT doctor – they will issue a referral for NFZ.

  • Submit the application and any additional documents to the local PCPR/MOPS/PFRON.
